Experience the Athelete massage at Blue Water Days Spa

Athlete’s Massage

Pamper your body after strenuous physical activity with this deluxe therapeutic massage especially designed for athletes or active people.

Benefits of Athlete’s Massage:

  • Reduce muscle tension
  • Help athletes monitor muscle tone
  • Promote relaxation
  • Increase range of motion
  • Decrease muscle stiffness and soreness after exercise
  • Enhance athletic performance
  • Help prevent injuries when massage is received regularly

You may not realize it, but massage affects the cardiovascular system.  It dilates blood vessels, which helps them work more efficiently to promote circulation.  The manual assistance of encouraging venous blood flow back to the heart enhances blood flow, which delivers fresh oxygen and nutrients to the tissue and promotes the removal of waste products and toxins.  Thanks to the relaxed state you’re in during and after the massage, your heart rate lowers.

More known and expected are the benefits of massage to the muscular system.  One of them directly ties to the cardiovascular benefits.  The increased and enhanced blood circulation helps to relieve muscle tension, reduce soreness and make for a faster recovery.  Then, the relaxed muscles can experience “an increase in range of motion and flexibility,”

These benefits include reducing stress and tension and anxiety while promoting relaxation by activating your parasympathetic nervous system.  So you get an increase in dopamine and serotonin levels and a reduction in cortisol levels, which are directly linked to stress.

That relaxed, lowered-tension state encourages focus, a good thing to have before going into any sport, group exercise class or competition.

You’ll benefit more from a deep tissue or sports massage than you will a spa soft-and-gentle-and-smelling-good massage.  However, these types of massage may not always be comfortable.

Athlete’s massage often involves a fast-paced massage, stretching and other approaches, depending upon the sport in which you participate.  It can be tailored to be used as a pre-workout stretch and opportunity to warm up the muscles or used as a post-workout massage designed to reduce soreness and increase flexibility.

The deep tissue massage often is suggested by massage therapists because it works on particular issues you may have, applying heavier pressure on layers of muscles and other deep tissues.  Don’t expect to be comfortable throughout this massage. It’s designed to get into knots and tension the muscles may be holding.  But be prepared.  With their attention to soft tissue aches and pains, either type of massage can leave you feeling sore.

Athlete’s massage is a type of massage that can alleviate pain occurring in certain parts of the body, which can be caused by too much physical activity. This type of massage was originally developed to serve athletes as a way to prevent and relieve injuries, but both athletes and non-athletes can gain physiological and psychological benefits from receiving sports massage therapy.

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness Prevention

Athlete’s massage therapy can prevent or relieve delayed onset muscle soreness. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, delayed soreness typically begins to develop 12 to 24 hours after the exercise has been performed. DOMS may produce the greatest pain between 24 and 72 hours after the exercise has been performed. Sports massage therapy prevents delayed onset muscle soreness by encouraging blood and lymph flow throughout the body, preventing muscle fatigue.

Fit Filipino Movement challenges the Philippines to lose 1 million lbs.

Premier wellness and lifestyle coaches, Jim and Toni Saret, challenge the nation to fight the battle of the bulge this 2017 in the Fit Filipino (FitFil) 1 Million Lbs. National Weight Loss Challenge.

FitFil is slated to be the biggest on-ground and online fitness campaign in the country. The program will run for six months and aims to encourage everyone to pledge and lose the pounds. Even before its official launch, medical associations, and public and private sectors have already answered the call and made their pledges. Individual, squads, corporations, and even cities are encouraged to join the cause toward a healthier and fitter lifestyle.

This national challenge is the first step to the Fit Filipino Movement’s vision of one million fit Filipinos by 2020. According to the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) Director Mario V. Capanzana, “Three in 10 Filipinos are overweight or obese. Of these three, one overweight adult can be found in the National Capital Region.”

“We want Filipinos to see that getting fit and healthy can be easy and fun when you have the whole nation rallying together for this cause,” said Coach Jim Saret.

This was seconded by Coach Toni Saret. “Wellness starts with the little changes in our lifestyle choices. We can start with better eating habits or a simple 4-minute workout daily,” she added.

Among the first organizations that pledged support is the Philippine Heart Association (PHA). “Prevention is still the best step to be in tip-top shape. Following PHA’s 52100 Health Lifestyle (which stands for five daily servings of fruits and vegetables, two hours of screen time, one hour of exercise daily, zero sugary sweets, and 0 smoking) is one way of supporting the Fit Filipino Challenge,” said PHA President Dr. Raul Lapitan.

The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) is also taking on the challenge. “Obesity needs to be addressed. Proper nutrition and fitness can reverse that. We encourage everyone to join the Fit Filipino Movement,” said PMA President Dr. Irineo Bernardo III.

Registration is free, and will start on June 5 until December 5, 2017, at www.fitfil.ph.

Interested participants can also visit select Robinsons Supermarket every Saturday to register and submit their official weight. After their final weigh-in, participants can avail of a reward if they achieve their wellness goal.

Under the new management of Mount Grace Hospitals, FDMMC has upgraded facilities in allergology-immunology, hemodialysis, physical rehabilitation, endoscopy, hematology-oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, with various subspecialties in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, anesthesia and pain management, and comprehensive diagnostic services.

Lose weight effectively with Cohen’s Lifestyle Program’s easy-to-prepare and delicious meal plans

Some believe that you can’t enjoy delicious food and lose weight at the same time. Cohen’s Lifestyle Centre showed that you can as it kicked off its first Cohen Cook-Off Challenge. Cohen clients faced off in a cooking competition and presented their healthy, easy-to-cook and appetizing Cohen meals that can be quickly prepared at home and by doing so, lose weight safely and effectively.

Showcasing their original recipes were Mary Ann “Dr. Ianne” Tangcangco, 40, a physician who lost 35 lbs. on the program so far; Marian Remo, 30, a businesswoman who lost 16 lbs. to date; and Carrie Luis, 26, a freelance assistant who just started the program. Cohen clients Tangcangco, Remo and Luis prepared Apple Cake, Beef Stuffed Zucchini and Mushroom Burger, respectively.

Backed by years of scientific and medical research, Cohen’s Lifestyle Program is a personalized and rapid weight-loss and wellness program that focuses on proper nutrition and uses food as medicine. Each client’s unique blood profile is used as the basis for an individualized eating plan that recommends the personalized quantities of specific types of food that correct the hormonal imbalance that causes weight gain and obesity.

The program works like a prescription. It only “prescribes” food tested at the precise personalized quantity based on the biochemistry of your body to allow the body to do what it is naturally designed to do which is to burn fat. The food prescribed is easily available in the local supermarkets and is most likely already in your kitchen. Through this, there is no need for costly and unsafe procedures, such as injections or pills. Cohen’s Lifestyle Program delivers fast results, with clients averaging a loss of up to eight to 10 lbs. a month.

“The Cohen Program has a track record of success in delivering rapid weight loss using only food as medicine. We provide a safe, effective and scientific method of achieving a slimmer and healthier body, where all other methods may have failed,” said Barbara Young, Cohen’s Lifestyle Centre CEO and a certified life coach. “Cohen’s Lifestyle Program takes a holistic approach to losing weight. We don’t just guide you in losing weight but we also teach a healthier lifestyle, including cooking and eating habits and the way you look at food. You don’t need to be a chef to be able to prepare healthy, delicious meals. With a little bit of creativity in preparing food, losing weight can actually be fun. With the Cohen Cook-Off Challenge, we hope to inspire more people to take charge of their own health by getting involved in the preparation of their own food.”

The Cohen Cook-Off Challenge demonstrates that you can enjoy healthy, delicious and easy-to-cook meals even on a weight-loss program. With Cohen’s Lifestyle Program, you can now say goodbye to bland food to lose weight rapidly, safely and effectively.

Cohen’s Lifestyle Centre offers complimentary information sessions. To schedule an appointment, you may call the Makati office at 828-5251 or (0917) 892-6436.
