Caritas Margins is a social enterprise program of Caritas Manila that markets products of marginalized and sourced from partner organizations.
Caritas Margins supports over 500 families in Metro Manila and the provinces by providing them livelihood opportunities and marketing their products.
‘Margins’ was coined from the term marginalized, referring to socially excluded individuals or groups who are producing the product. The program helps to empower them through social entrepreneurship.
Some of the products are artworks by inmates of the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City. By creating these artworks, the inmtes use “pyrography”‘ a fairly uncommon medium utilizing soldering iron to depict still life nature and religious images.
Other products are made by marginalized families/locals such as handcrafted bags from Basey, Samar; Buri fan from Unisan, Quezon, Province; Banig or native mats with quit from Cagraray Island, Albay and upcycled bags and ladies accessories from the cities of Manila, Quezon and Valenzuela.
There are also other products that Caritas Margins offers, like christmas decors and religious images made by memebers of Caritas Salve; bath soap made from 100% natural ingredients using eco-friendly technology and organic produce by farmers hailing from Quezon, Sorsogon, Agusan and other provinces in the Philippines.

The proceeds from the sale of the products support the sustainability of this program, the financial provisions for the families of the marginalized and Caritas Manila’s educational assistance program: Youth and Servant Leadership and Education Program, also known as YSLEP.
